JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES, THE RESULT OF DIVINE PROVIDENCE

In the eighth century B.C.E. Jehovah caused Isaiah to write the words spoken in Isaiah 43:10, 12. Many prophecies recorded by Isaiah have fulfillment in connection with the Christian congregation. (Compare Isaiah 8:18 with Hebrews 2:10-13; Isaiah 66:22 with Revelation 21:1, 2)

THEIR MISSION

Acts 15:14 directs attention to God's purpose to take out of the nations ''a people for his name.'' In Revelation 3:14, Jesus Christ is ''the faithful and true witness.''(John 18:37) We can also direct attention to 1 Peter2:9, 10, which says that God's servants are to declare the ''exellencies of the one that called them out of darkness into his wonderful light.'' What is, as we can see, the divine commission? To be His ''witnesses.''(Isa. 43:8-12) The purpose is to declare their devotion to Jehovah and his kingdom; that they are servants of Jehovah God commissioned to do a work in God's name, deliver the testimony of Jesus Christ and to make known to the people that Jehovah is the true and Almighty God.

They invite all persons devoted to Jehovah to join in proclaiming the good news to others. People worldwide have to know where to find the truth and hope for relief. And above all, they proclaim that the great and holy name of Jehovah God will be vindicated and exalted by means of his Agent, Jesus Christ.—From Proclaimers of God's Kingdom-edited by the Jehovah's Witnesses, See also: ''Worship That God Approves'', edited by Jehovah's Witnesses.
